CERF

Dedicated to the elimination of heritable eye disease in purebred dogs through registration and research.

The Canine Eye Registration Foundation is an organization that was founded by a group of concerned, purebred owner/breeders who recognized that the quality of their dog's lives were being affected by heritable eye disease. CERF was then established in conjunction with cooperating, board certified, veterinary ophthalmologists, as a means to accomplish the goal of elimination of heritable eye disease in all purebred dogs and now hybrid dogs by forming a centralized, national registry. This registry is run by the Veterinary Medical DataBases, as a service to breeders and veterinary ophthalmologists who strive to eliminate eye disease in dogs.

CERF memberships are no longer available.  However, if you would like a quarterly breed registration report or a research report please contact the CERF office by emailing CERF@vmdb.org.  In order to cover expenses for generation of reports and mailing a fee may apply.

The 2009 version of the 5th Edition of Ocular Disorders Presumed To Be Inherited In Dogs is now available in CD format.  Ocular Disorders Presumed To Be Inherited In Purebred Dogs is the definitive canine eye resource used by CERF and other registries for purebred breeding recommendations.
